“We love the old-fashioned camp experience.”
“I don’t know what you all pump into the air there, but my kids enjoy that wholesome, old fashioned camp experience,” says Christy, mom of Amelia (10) and Simon (6), who sends her children to Beachmont Day Camp. “What keeps our family coming back are the Christian values, engaging, attentive counselors, and the amazing experiences they couldn’t get anywhere else.”
“Would they ever get to take archery? It’s awesome,” says Christy. From hikes in the woods, to low ropes courses, to swim lessons, Beachmont offers an array of activities that encourage children to be outside experiencing God’s creation. Christy adds, “and there are no electronics, which is a plus!”
“But they get dirty, I mean really dirty – but that’s the nature of it,” Christy says with a laugh.
Growing up in a Christian family, Christy says she appreciates Beachmont’s daily devotions which consist of songs, skits or stories about the Bible. “The kids come home singing songs and telling her stories about their faith, which I love,” she says.
“If we have a problem, the counselors are there to help us. I feel really cared for,” says Amelia, who looks forward to her fourth year of camp this summer. “The rope swing into the pond, the slip-and-slide, it’s all so much fun.” Her brother Simon agrees, and adds that he enjoys the arts and crafts and being with his friends in a fun environment.
Christy and her family also look forward to one of their favorite fall activities - the annual Beachmont Corn Maze. “Every year, they have a different kid-friendly theme like pirates and Toy Story,” she says. “The whole thing is so creative.” In addition to the corn maze, the event also offers an “extreme” hayride, 60’ inflatable course, food vendors and many more activities for the entire family.
“The camp is a wonderful program,” Christy says. “I know they’re evolving to keep up with changing times, but I love that they stick to their roots, too. Most importantly, I’m confident that my children are well taken care of by people who have Christian values - and they’re going to have the time of their lives.”
