“They truly care about each individual child.”

“My daughters are home-schooled, so it’s important for them to have experiences outside of the home to make friends,” says Laura Anne, mother of Annabelle (12) and Charlotte (8), who attend Beachmont’s Day Camp every summer. “My husband grew up going to Beachmont, and my in-laws get the girls two weeks of camp each year as birthday presents, because they believe in the experience that much.”

“Our children and grandchildren are our legacy. They are blessings from God.” says her in-laws, Jim and Tish Lathroum. “Beachmont strengthens our grandchildren by teaching the word of God through fun activities. We have been part of Beachmont for a long time and thank God for the role-modeling they show to our grandchildren.”

Laura and her husband, who live in Fallston, MD, grew up attending church  and were eager to send their daughters to a camp that offered adventurous, outdoor activities, but also reinforced Biblical teachings. “Beachmont’s devotions appeal to everyone because the camp staff make them engaging, as well as educational.”

“It’s my daughters’ favorite two weeks of the year,” Laura Anne says. “We plan vacations and other outings with family, but nothing gets them more excited than their camp sessions.” When asked what their favorite part of camp is, Annabelle and Charlotte both laugh and say, “lunch!” referring to the Chick-fil-A, Wawa, and Papa John’s meals available for campers to order and enjoy with their friends. Charlotte adds that she also enjoys swimming lessons, archery and the low ropes course, while Annabelle likes the free time the older kids have to explore and play in the woods.

Laura Anne says the amazing senior staff keep her family returning every summer. “I can’t say enough good things about the counselors. My girls talk about the relationships they form with them more than any other part of camp,” she says. “Those young men and women truly care for each individual child.”

She says it’s comforting to know that her girls are in good hands at Beachmont. “There aren’t many other people who watch our children,” she says. “They don’t go to public school and they didn’t go to daycare, but when we drop them off at Beachmont, we feel confident and comfortable that they’re going to have fun and be taken care of.”
